The 1955 SLR 300 Uhlenhaut Coupe has become the most expensive car ever sold in a private auction, this auction was conducted by RM Sitheby’s at the Mercedes-Benz museum on 5th May, the car was sold for Rs 1,108 crore which is approximately 135 million Euro!!

Mercedes-Benz only produce two models of 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe, this car has a 3.0-litre straight eight engine which can produce around 310 horsepower and can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds, it has a top speed of 288 km/h

The SLR 300 Uhlenhaut Coupe break the previous record, which was held by Ferrari, the Ferrari 250 GTO was sold in 503 crore Rs which is approximately 52 million pounds!!

Mercedes-Benz was named the model by their chief engineer, Rudolf Uhlenhaut. The one SLR 300 Uhlenhaut Coupe was used by Rudolf Uhlenhaut himself, many collectors had tried but all had failed, The SLR 300 Uhlenhaut Coupe is also known as the “Mona Lisa of cars”.

Head of Mercedes-Benz heritage Mr Marcus Breitschwerdt, said that the car will make appearances, the private buyer has agreed that the SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe will remain accessible for public display on special occasions, while the second 300 SLR Coupe remains in company ownership and will continue to be displayed at the Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart.
